Description

Two figures occupy a single outline against a deep blue ground. One wears a dusty pink dress off the shoulder, her head lowered and turned away. Over her, like a second exposure, stands a figure in a white slip whose arms and shoulders are a deep oxblood printed with thin branches and seed heads. Their hands meet and fold together low in front of them.

The face here is painted rather than dissolved, which sets this canvas apart from the 2017 works. It is lowered instead of erased, so what the picture withholds is attention rather than identity.

The title means, roughly, facing my own art. The doubling is the argument: the maker and the made thing standing in the same body, holding their own hands.
