Argenita Fetahu / Painter and muralist

I give form to what is felt but not spoken.

Oil paintings of the female figure, built around a red dress inherited from my mother. Born in Gjakova, trained in Prishtina, working now from Lucerne. Exhibited in twenty countries, from the London Art Biennale to Times Square.

Oil painting of an inverted figure, legs raised, a deep red dress falling downward beside an empty wooden hanger, on a pale cream ground.

Unus-One

Oil on canvas, 120 × 100 cm, 2017

Two women stand apart in the same red dress, arms folded. One holds a threadbare teddy bear; the other holds nothing. The Latin title and the doubled figure ask whether these are two people, or one person standing at two distances from her own childhood.

Artist statement

Colour as an emotional anchor

Portrait photograph of Argenita Fetahu.
Argenita Fetahu

The recurring red dress, inherited from my mother, is a symbol of tradition, memory, and the passage of stories from one generation to another.

My work explores the relationship between inner experience and the surrounding environment. Through figurative and semi-abstract compositions, I translate memory, presence, and emotional depth into visual form.

The female figure appears frequently, drawn from myself, my mother, and women from my homeland. Through them I explore identity, resilience, and the quiet strength found in everyday life.
