How a painting is packed, what it costs to send, and what happens if something is wrong.
Crating and dispatch
Works up to 100 cm on the longest side travel in a flat art box with corner protection. Larger works are shipped in a purpose-built crate. Both are packed by hand and neither is reusable packaging, so a work is never sent in a box that has been used before.
Allow five to ten working days between cleared payment and dispatch. Crating a large canvas is made to measure and cannot be rushed without risking the work. A tracking number is sent as soon as the shipment is booked.
Where works are sent and what it costs
Shipping within Switzerland is free. Shipping to Europe and to the rest of the world is charged at a flat rate that depends on the size of the work, shown at checkout before payment.
Every shipment is insured for the full purchase price while in transit.
Customs, duties and import VAT
Works ship from Switzerland. For buyers elsewhere, the destination country will normally charge import VAT and may charge customs duty on an original work of art. These are payable by the buyer, are collected by the carrier before delivery, and are outside the artist control. Many countries apply a reduced rate of import VAT to original artworks: it is worth checking the rate locally before ordering.
Damage in transit
Inspect the work on arrival, before signing for it where the carrier allows. If the outer crate or box is visibly damaged, note this on the carrier paperwork.
Report any damage within seven days of delivery, to info@argenitafetahu.com, with photographs of the work, the packaging and the damage. Keep all of the packaging until the claim is settled: an insurer will normally refuse a claim if the packaging has been discarded. A work damaged in transit is refunded in full, including shipping, once the claim is agreed.
Returns
A work bought through this website can be returned within fourteen days of delivery for a refund of the purchase price.
To return a work, email info@argenitafetahu.com within those fourteen days. The work must come back in its original crate or box, in the condition it arrived in. Return carriage and insurance are paid by the buyer, and the work remains the buyer responsibility until it arrives. A work that arrives back damaged, or that has been varnished, framed, cleaned or otherwise altered, cannot be refunded.
Shipping paid on the original order is refunded only where the work was faulty or damaged on arrival.
Refunds
Refunds are made to the original payment method, or by bank transfer where the order was paid that way, within fourteen days of the returned work arriving and being inspected.
Commissions and murals
Commissioned paintings and murals are agreed separately and are not sold through this website. Because they are made to a brief, they are not covered by the returns period above. Terms are set out in the commission agreement before work begins.
