Description
A single figure floats near the centre of a deep, cold blue field. She is turned away, the back of the red dress open to the viewer, both hands lifted to her dark red hair as if pressing something back into place. Below her the paint breaks into a loose reflection and her feet come apart in it.
There is no floor and no horizon, only depth. At 150 centimetres tall the canvas puts the figure at roughly life scale, so the absence of ground registers bodily rather than as a formal device.
The title points at something administered rather than given: relief that has to be dosed.
